St. Patrick's Day Remembrance and Pancake Breakfast
,On St. Patrick's Day, March 17th, Kathy Corona and Gloria Brown, gave a pancake breakfast, in honor of Carol Smith, who passed away. Bobby "The Flipper" Monteil, volunteered to man the grill. Twenty five members signed up, with the proceeds going to the club as requested by Bob Smith. Bob Smith gave a loving speech, recognizing Carol's many years of devotion to the club. It was a fitting way to remember our friend Carol.
Southwest Bowls Training Clinic at Oxnard LBC February 1, 2025
Oxnard LBC hosted a day long training presented by Lawn Bowl Hall of Famer Scott Roberts with assistance from his medal winning wife Linda. Position responsibilities, strategic play and lunch were shared by all with classroom and practical drills. Thanks to the organizers and social committee (Gloria Brown, Kathy Corona and Marian Williams) for helping put on the informative and entertaining event. About 40 members of the club improved their game, not sure about the rest.
Holiday Cheer at River Ridge December 10, 2025
A merry group descended upon the River Ridge Ballroom donned in festive attire and jolly moods on the eve of December the 10th. With the outstanding coordination of Glittering Gloria and her Elf Assistant Jack, along with other pranksters, a good time was had by all, especially the winners of gifts made possible with the generosity of the Newton's. Friends, fun, food and frolic were captured on film. And speeches.
Haunted Bowling on October 30,2024
Club members took advantage of our Halloween Bowl to pull out some very creative and daring costumes. Their efforts made it a fun day organized and hosted by our Biker Queen Gloria Brown.
Prize winners were: Kathy Corona, Rich Purcell (pictured) and Mark Pendlbury for Highest Team Score in the Can Game, Bob Livermont for getting his bowl stuck in the web and Tony Cunningham for best costume.
A good time and some good bowling were enjoyed by all followed some belly laughs at the luncheon.

Visitation to Cambria-Joslyn Lawn Bowls Club July 12, 2024
The Cambria Lawn Bowls Club extended a warm welcome to their many enthusiastic visitors from Oxnard. In fact, Oxnard members outnumbered Cambria members of the 30 bowlers taking part in the first game. For many it was a challenging initiation to playing on carpet. There was also a large contingent of supporting characters cheering on the players and preparing a delicious lunchtime BBQ. Our members and their guests took part in the many attractions of the area including dining, shopping, beach combing, theatre, wine tasting and the light display called Sensario. Certainly many smiles and friends were created. We will see some of them again at the upcoming Ecton Tournament in Oxnard. Thanks to David Brook for organizing this visitation.
July 3, 2024 Bowls and Dogs
A strong contingent of patriots turned out for an All American fest of bowling and hot dog eating competitions.
Jack Bucey and Gloria Brown, along with other volunteers, did a great job of planning, decorating and cooking up a great lunch and fun new activities.
Prize winners were: Ken Roth for a Ringer. Linus Raibys for most Patriot Jack touches. Bob Williams and Ken Roth for best team score. Congrats.
We all got to enjoy new games and happy company while Jack was bell ringing and barbecuing.
Memorial Day Bowls Monday May 27, 2024
Club members and their guests turned out for a great Memorial Day event to enjoy fun, food, friends and some new twists on the game of lawn bowling. Thanks to Kathy, Jack and Gloria for organizing the social and bowling events. Also helping make the event a success were our kitchen helpers Gloria, Kathy, Susan and Dee. There were lots of happy smiles and tummies.
All who participated were winners. Jerry, who won closest to the bullseye, got to take home a prize as did the winners of the All Positions Trio competition Linus, Ron and Brian.

Holiday Party 2023
Our annual Christmas Party was held at River Ridge Golf Club December 12.
This was our first ever dinner party and it was a huge success! We had over 60 attendees, including family members and friends. The entertainment was provided by the Michael Falcone trio which prompted much dancing and listening enjoyment. Many of our new members brought friends and family to enjoy the evening.
Thanks to Gloria and Jack for arranging and being the Masters of Ceremony for the evening.
Looking forward to a great New Year and next years' party.
