Welcome to the Oxnard-Joslyn Lawn Bowls Club
Revised August 2005
Thank you for joining our Club. We are looking forward to many good days of bowling with you.
Some things you should know and some responsibilities assumed by ALL Club members are listed below:
GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING - This meeting is scheduled for the second
Friday of each month at 9:15 a.m. The date should be noted on the white
bulletin board, and the Club president will make an announcement prior
to the meeting. All members are asked to attend if possible.
COFFEE FUND - Those members drinking coffee are asked to donate 25 cents per day (not per cup).
CALENDAR - A calendar is on our Club website, listing events for the
next month. It is kept up to date. Copies of our quarterly newsletter
are on the long table to your right as you enter so you can keep up
with what has happened.
ANNUAL DUES - Annual dues are due Nov. 1-30. Dues can be paid in two
installments, but the Club prefers a single payment. Dues changes, if
any, are announced in Oct.
SET UP - All Club members are asked to sign up for one day each month
for set up. This includes: Preparing coffee (Instructions on inside of
coffee cupboard door); Generally bring a morning snack (coffee cake,
doughnuts etc.); Set up the rinks (On the bulletin board to the right
of door to the office and in the shed there are instructions that
bowling will be North-South or East-West and the numbers/colors of the
rinks to be set up); The rinks should have mats, scoreboards, jacks,
rakes and coverings for benches and chairs if needed; Often two or more
members join together for the above job; Members who have
responsibility for set up, can check out keys or obtain a set from the
Senior Services Office. If no one has signed up, members just pitch in
and help set up.
CLEAN UP - All Members, at the conclusion of bowling, pick up equipment
and take to storage shed. Those members with the daily duty are
responsible for kitchen clean up and taking trash to outside bin.
ANY QUESTIONS - Ask any member.
NEW MEMBER ITEMS - You should receive, as a new member, a
Membership Roster, a Member Name Tag, a Club pin, and copies of the
Club By-Laws and Policies & Procedures.
COFFEE MUG - Please feel free to bring your own coffee mug. Coffee
tastes better that way and we save money by not having to use styrofoam
cups that are thrown away and may harm our environment.
HAVE A GREAT TIME LAWN BOWLING!!
