Dick Gibson was odd man out and did not bowl in the first game. He took pictures and talked with the bowlers and watched the play. There were two other clubs invited, Santa Anita and The Groves for a total of about 21 more bowlers. Including Oxnard and the Holmby Park bowlers, there was quite a bunch of bowlers in the club area.
As in the past, we were offered a tasty choice of breakfast rolls and fresh fruit. Lunch offered was a choice of 6 or 7 different salads, some fruit and fresh made crescent sandwiches. Dessert was cake, lemon bars and ice cream bars.
There was spirited play all morning and a large group stayed for afternoon play including all bowlers from Oxnard. Tom Seres added a new wrinkle at the end of bowling, a small trophy to each player of the morning team with the biggest score. A Holmby Park team won.
We hope our four novice bowlers enjoyed the competition and friendship of our visitation. More visitations are planned throughout the year and our bowlers are encouraged to attend. So the day was great too. Overcast weather kept the heat down and the sun was not in your eyes. And Yea, no rain.
