City of Oxnard Senior Legends Games

May 14, 2008 Lawn Bowling

The City of Oxnard sponsored a city-wide event in May for seniors to participate in any of about 20 different activities. One of these is lawn bowling and the details are presented below with photos and awards for winning teams.

Director:       Amador Martinez

Schedule:    Saturday, May 14, 2008 9:30a.m. - 2:30p.m.

Venue:          Oxnard Joslyn Lawn Bowls - Wilson Park
                        350 N. “C” Street, Oxnard, CA

Requirements:     Bowlers must wear flat shoes (i.e. no heels) for the games.

The type of game played is called triples; consisting of  three people per team. Teams were organized with people qualified for Skip, Vice and Lead positions. The most experienced players play as Skips.

Each team was put together by a blind draw (i.e., random selection). This assures that no team is knowingly put together with only strong, experienced players.

Eight teams played two 10-end games.   Group photo above shows all participants and photo can be enlarged by clicking on it.  Teams were:

        Amador, Sal, Sybil
