William Ernest Taschek, flew on high, March 3, 2008, after 80 years of life and 57 years of marriage.
He
was born in Seattle, Wash., on Jan. 8, 1928. In 1945, he attended Navy
preflight school , which was the start of a lifelong interest in
aviation. He later graduated from the University of Washington.
In
1951, as newlyweds, Marilyn and Bill moved to Van Nuys, Calif., where
Bill worked for California Central Airlines and they had their two
sons, Brandon and Brian. Later, he was employed by Lockheed Aircraft,
where he worked for 29 years and retired to the Rusty Pelican in 1984.
Loves
of his life were his family, building and sailing boats, getting the
bowl on the jack and viewing sunsets and Anacapa Island. Visiting homes
in Oxnard you might find people playing games that Bill had taught them
and see many examples of his fine woodwork. Bill was an inspiration and
mentor to all, and his kind spirit will live on.
Bill
is survived by his wife, two sons, and three grandchildren, Clivette
Kuras, Shannon Waring, and Justin Taschek; and one great-granddaughter,
Edina Kuras.
The family deeply appreciates the Assisted Home Hospice care and the many prayers and support from friends.
In
lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to Oxnard-Joslyn Lawn Bowls
Club, attention: Bert Kessler, 350 North C St., Oxnard, CA 93030.
A celebration of his life will be planned later in the year. Friends will be notified.
Funeral
arrangements are under the direction of Garcia Mortuary, 629 South A
St., Oxnard. For further information, please call 805-486-9148.
