![]() William Ernest Taschek, flew on high, March 3, 2008, after 80 years of life and 57 years of marriage. He was born in Seattle, Washington on Jan. 8, 1928. In 1945, he attended Navy preflight school, which was the start of a lifelong interest in aviation. He later graduated from the University of Washington. In 1951, as newlyweds, Marilyn and Bill moved to Van Nuys, Calif., where Bill worked for California Central Airlines and they had their two sons, Brandon and Brian. Later, he was employed by Lockheed Air- craft, where he worked for 29 years and retired to the Rusty Pelican in 1984. Loves of his life were his family, building and sailing boats, getting the bowl on the jack and viewing sunsets and Anacapa Island.
